At CES next year, Honda claims it will finally tout its long-committed personal in-car assistant. The auto manufacturer has been operating on its own digital assistant since last year when it declared a joint venture with SoundHound. Besides the normal claims of “unparalleled” accuracy and speed, the firm does not state very much about how the tool evaluates to AI such as Siri and Google Assistant. It does note that users will be capable of waking it by stating “OK Honda,” and that it will be capable of inferring context about a query on the basis of your present location, along with any earlier questions.
Besides the AI, the firm aims to disclose other forthcoming concepts and products. One of the more interesting programs is dubbed as Smartphone as Brain. The firm states the platform will make it secure for you to employ your handset while riding a motorcycle or driving a car. Employing Bluetooth connectivity, it lets you to manage some factors of your handset with either a car’s physical controls or your voice.
We have seen auto manufacturers make a series of things to deal with distracted driving. For example, Volvo claimed that it aims to include interior cameras to its cars to let them to intervene when they view the user is not paying attention on the street. The approach by Honda is less invasive here, and more inline with how we have witnessed auto manufacturers approach the issue earlier.
While it will be difficult for the firm to top something such as the 3E-D18 mobility bot it touted last year and this year as well, it is good to see it aim on more practical concepts, rather than the moonshots users so often view at CES.
